Flower Lantern Festival in front of Higashi Honganji Temple to be held from March 24
Higashi-honganji Hanatouro” will be held for about a month from March 24, 2023 (Fri.) at Higashi-honganji Mae Shimin Ryokuchi in front of Higashi-honganji Temple. Higashiyama Hanatouro and Arashiyama Hanatouro are famous for Hanatouro. The Higashi Honganji Hanatouro is held as a “Hanatouro/Light-up Support Project” in which lanterns, etc. used in these Hanatouro events are lent out.
This event is held to commemorate the Higashi-Honganji Memorial Ceremony and the opening of the Higashi-Honganji front civic green space for public use. The highlight of the event is the lighting up of 200 lanterns from the “Kyoto Hanatouro” lanterns, led by the Higashi-Honganji-mae Shopping Association. Higashi-honganji Temple is close to Kyoto Station, so not only visitors for sightseeing but also those on their way home from work can see the event.
Incidentally, the “Hanatouro/Light-up Support Project” can be held by anyone who meets the requirements. If you are interested, please visit the Kyoto City website.
